I built it because I needed it, too.

I’m Allan Sklar. I’ve spent 50 years designing badminton equipment, including the Knight Trainer automatic feeding machines that coaches around the world still use today.

At 70 years old, training with my own Knight Trainer on the badminton court, I was scattering hundreds of shuttlecocks every session. Hand-stacking couldn’t keep up. I was spending more time on the floor reloading than on my feet hitting.

So I built the first STAXX for myself. Then coaches tried it. Then clubs. Then parents feeding shuttles to their kids. Everyone had the same reaction – this saves real time, real energy, and keeps badminton sessions moving.

That’s why it exists. Not because someone needed a new product. Because coaches, players, and parents needed this one.

Badminton has deeply woven itself throughout my life for over 60 years and my career spans five decades of badminton product development, including one of my proudest achievements: developing the world’s first practical badminton machine, the Knight Trainer.

Recently, at 70, I decided to try to re-acquire some badminton skills so that I could enjoy playing again. Doing so with my Knight Trainer Pro robot friend, I was faced with 500 to a thousand shuttles on the court everyday that had to be stacked. This was truly discouraging and exhausting..

So, as you can already guess, I solved the problem and went even further with inspiration from my wife Kathy,

I developed a simple yet effective way to take all the strain out of stacking large quantities of shuttles. Encouraged by people who saw what I was doing and offered suggestions, I decided to polish it up and turn it into a product that everybody could use. Now STAXX, stacking up to 400 shuttles in 2 minutes, is available for everyone.

Someone estimated that over a billion shuttles are stacked every day. We have a long way to go to end hand stacking, but STAXX is where we start 🙂
